Recommend me a first shotgun

I own a Mossberg 500, it's never let me down. And I shot off a lot of rounds on the farm

I got three barrels for mine, 181/2", 28" with chokes, and a 24" rifled barrel w/scope. With one shot gun you can hunt water fowl, small game, and big game (close range of course).

If you're on a tighter budget I would say a Mossberg 500. If you have some money and REALLY want to pimp it out go ahead and get an 870. Both are nice and both will treat you well. Personally I prefer shooting with my Mossberg, but I really enjoy the versatality of changing chokes with the 870.
A single shot 12 gauge may not have the AARR* value of a tactical or twin-pipe, but it sure is a simple reliable tool to carry anywhere in any weather.
* the word AARR sounds like clearing your throat, but not so guttural as gargling nor as wheezy as a cat horking up hairballs and describes an object or activity which proves ones manliness beyond question ( very likely to oneself.)

To date, I've owned 6 different pumps. The only one I have left is an 870. Chances are, my next pump will be an 870 as well.
While the 870P is an awesome variant, I would recommend looking into buying an older and very lightly used wingmaster in the EE. Build standards were to higher tolerances 20 years ago (as opposed to the current expresses, etc), and you can probably get it for a third of the price of a new 870P. Use that extra cash to pay for ammunition, cause the distinction between any of the big 5 models won't balance up to the difference alongside a few thousand rounds down range at the beginning of your shooting career.

The list is extensive, but the list just shows the different options and configurations available. If you e-mail them telling them what you want, they'll tell you which configurations are available to meet your needs. Also, they can tell you what all the abbreviations mean, if you're not sure what you want. If they don't have the exact stock or fore-end you're looking for, they can order it for you and ship it with your gun, so you can install it yourself. Installing a different buttstock, fore-end, mag extension, or barrel on an 870 is ridiculously easy. The 870 is like the Mr. Potato Head of shotguns.

The 100th anniversary wingmaster model, if it's anything like the Ducks Unlimited or any other commemorative models, is just a standard wingmaster with some nice engraving on the side. Nice collector piece, but little practical value.
Quality? What are you looking for? They both go bang when the "ahem" "booger finger" is placed in the appropriate location. Get an basic 870 if you are not sure. Or (hijacking in progress) a 870 Marine Magnum - which is hands down the best gun ever that any money could buy.
That way if you mess things up ????? Somehow?????? You won't feel bad about shelling out mucho cash for your then broken toy.
If you are hunting then get longer barrel and who cares how many shells over 3 it holds. If it for zombies then the needs change. For trap or skeet or sporting clays, get a side by side or over under. Even though I use a pump and suck at it.
Look at your end purpose then try to narrow your list down. Next try them out and see what fits. Only after you have a couple in your safe and some time using different types should you be more concerned with the cool factor and how they make you look then with the practicality of the firearm.
