I guess it would depend on what the primary purpose of the firearm is.
Either one will drop any animal if the bullet placement is correct.
The .300 will definitely kick more.
Me thinks more info is required if your looking for more input.

Whats your question??? If its which is bigger size wise, its the .300 You see the .300 win mag utilizes a .308 bullet while the tried and true 7mm utilizes a
.284 bullet.

They both do good damage on pulmonary and cardiovascular systems. Provided you can hit those areas.

............class dismissed.:D

I am in agreement and so many peopl ei have shot or hunted with feel the 7mm rem mag for the case capacity just doesn't cut it. A .30-06 handloaded and chronied with a 165 grainer comes awfully close.

The .300 win.mag is more potent by a long shot over the 7 mm. The 7mm rem ultra mag comes out about the same or a little faster than the .300 win mag , using 165 gr. nosler partition. The ammo for the 7mm RUM is steep in price, about $55.00 a box.

I have 2 7mm rem mags and a 300 win mag. I don't use my 300 much, I find it damages too much meat on the animals I've shot with it. One of my 7mm's is used for hunting, the other for long range target shooting. I think the cartridge is a very accurate cartridge that doesn't kick unecessarily hard, but hits animals hard. I use 175 gr. bullets for hunting and haven't had a problem at all. This is my choice of round. Good luck, Eric

My opinion: neither. Had both...got rid of them. The .280 will do pretty much anything the 7Mag will do in a lighter rifle with less recoil. And if a .280 isn't enough gun...I want a lot more than a .30 caliber magnum (which are fine all-arounders) Enter the .338's and .375's. Big medicine for big animals.

I've owned 7mmRM, 3000WM and 300WSM.

Still have the 7mmRM, and 300WSM.

There really isn't much difference most of the time...Find the rifle you like and get it in whatever it comes in. :)

What are you hunting?
