Man Im stuck there is so many versions and models for the harris bipod, was going to go with the versa pod but then voted against it and rather go with the harris.. Hmm what would be best for my needs? I need a bipod and want to get a harris and im going to be shooting from the prone so i would like the lowest height possible 3-6 or -9". But should i get the swivel or notch and in benchrest or other.. looking to shoot from 100m-1000m.

thanks, just dont want to short myself out

Get somebody to measure the distance between the swivel and the ground while you're prone. Personally, having lugged an early HBH around, I'd go with the Model L. 11 oz, adjusts between 9 and 13 inches. Or a Series 'M'. Height adjusts by the inch.
Then decide if you're hunting more than target shooting. That'll determine if the swivel is a good idea or not. Likely better to have the option though.

If you find the Harris Bi-pod you like, see if you can find a Rock Mount one of the same kind. Its a direct knock off and costs a lot less. Quality isnt sacrificed either, they stand up to a beating.

I tried the swivel mounted bipod and found the movement it allowed caused the gun to move . I bought a Shooters ridge bipod 9"to13"( from SIR) that mounts solid . Very pleased with the target results. Do not need to buy a "name" product as the warrantees and durability is the same for all. The money saved can help buy you better optics perhaps.

You want the harris model HBRMS (notched legs, 6-9", with swivel). For the swivel I'd say a pod-loc is an absolute necessity.

two of my friends thought the same way, buying rock-mounts. i shelled out more money and bought a harris right off the bat. both have since replaced them because of failures, one replaced his twice before finally buying a harris.
in the end, i spent less money than either of them and had zero frustration with my bipod falling apart in the middle of a varminting weekend.

Hmm.. interesting. The three that I use have had no problems. Id still recommend them from my experiences.

You have it right in your post. If you are target shooting from the prone position the lower the better. The swivel is handy when you go to shoots that have you shooting on uneven ground not just cement pads. From my experience the Harris is by far the best way to go. I started out with a rock-mount and it was a piece of sh!!

I notice neither SIR nor WSS sports sells Harris bipods. Is ebay about the only way to buy one mailorder in Canada? I see I can get a Harris HS-C (high, swivel), for $110 plus $25 shipping. Anyone think I can do better than that?

WSS carries the harris and wannabes, IMHO they are all waanabes compared to the versapod which you can get from alberta tactical rifle, sold my harris's and bought this

also isnt any more $$ than the top end harris and works great

Harris bipods show up in the EE sometimes. I've bought 2 of the 1A2 LM models in the last 4 months. There is an H model in the EE at the moment.

Thanks. I seem to never find the product I'm looking for when I go to the websites for WSS or SIR and type in a search term. I tried Harris and came up with no bipods. I even tried sks on SIR's site, and despite it being a catalogue item, it doesn't show up either.

I'll look more into the versa pods. I want something good for sitting or kneeling height.

I had one years ago and thought it was fine. But now that I hear about the swivel models, I'm thinking that a feature I'd like.

I Have a WSS Catalouge and they are in it , but for what ever reason i can't find them on there website
