Anyone watch the show "The first 48"?

Its a crime show like "cops" i guess where there are murder scenes and the investigators try to solve it in the first 48 hours.

Anyways.. At many crime scenes there are 45cal. or other casings from an auto pistol of some sort.
There is almost always a live round amoungst the empty casings . Why is this? Does the criminal not realize there is a round in the chamber and rechamber another round before firing or is there a problem with said pistol where it ejects a live round??
My inquiring mind needs to know.:)

Thanks

I've watched that show quite a bit and never saw what you speak of, but I could have missed it.

I would say that guys are either racking the slide before firing when there is a round already in the chamber or a failure to fire requiring a manual clear of the chamber. but just my guess:)

It's a show, none of it is real, the actors/writers/directors know nothing about real guns or shooting, they glorify guns to sell a TV show and then like in Hollywood they call for more gun control. Instead they should be showing the proper use of guns as sporting equip. and how people can enjoy their sport without anyone getting hurt, how a young person practices and finally makes it to the Olympics or how the shooting sports involves the whole family. These TV shows glorify violence and the wrong use of guns and people get the wrong impression of guns and believe the crap on TV and call for more gun bans!!!!!!Rant mode off!

Just tonight a repeat episode where "jrock" and "little d" are the purps:rolleyes: A 45 cal loaded round among the empties. I have seen 1/2 dozen episodes where there is always a loaded round.

Its a show and its real.

When i write the thread titled " Are tv shows real" you can chime in and tell us how it is.

Lots of FTF with the poor maintenance of el-cheapo street guns, but honestly I think it's a 'cool factor' thing where a guy will rack the slide as a 'warning', then neglect to pick up the live round that was previously chambered.

I say this because I've seen it done in a near-gunfight I witnessed outside a club, while trying not to get myself or any of the other doormen/patrons shot. Guy walked up (gun tilted of course), racked the slide, live round ejected, guy put it to the other one's temple, said 'bang', and walked away. About 30 feet from the front door, in the parking lot. Crazy stuff.

x2 on this. Good grief... thank God there are some smart people out there who are willing to tell the rest of us simpletons that TV isn't real

I agree with this. I'm a criminal lawyer working in Vancouver, and I can confirm that we have seen this... and just about every other macho/BS/Hollywood/John Woo cliche you can think of... in various of the gun crime incidents that have made it into court in the Lower Mainland. Criminals carrying illegal guns into clubs and resturants are not known for their originality of thinking... or their subtlety.

Considering how friggin stupid the "majority" of their suspects are on that show.........(for lack of better words, its almost always a crack smoking African American, without being rude.) I can believe it, an few episodes I've seen it.

It's fun when they do a warrant and need help from the Dallas Swat guys.

After doing the deed, many criminals have adopted the ACTS and PROVE method of safe firearms handling. The live round is the result of making the firearm safe after use.:slap:

Most criminal types do not have their NRA Eddie the Eagle (or whatever he's called) badge, nor their IPSC black badge, so they tend to do things as they have seen them on the last few rap videos on MTV.

If I ever lose all my morals, I might open a shooting school for would-be tough guys - At least if they learned a few things, we could count on better accuracy when they have a wounded psyche moment, and less innocent bystanders should be involved.

Or maybe I could just give them all little hugs?

OK, I'll take your word for it. I have never seen an episode with it, but I don't watch them all.:)

You should make sure you know what the show is about before you start yapping:rolleyes: It is a show on A&E that follows real police murder investigations.

If you have never seen the show, don't comment;)

when was the last time you saw gun handling on recent mtv / mm rap videos. it don't exist. In fact, american FCC censors more heavily than our CRTC.

don't blame rap videos.
