Help! Have Leitz C1 scope, need info

Been sitting on this scope, it's a Leitz C1 scope in the can, but no lens cover present. Another gun owner is trying to talk me out of it, but I have NO clue what this thing is worth. While I'm not out to screw another person with a high end price, by the same token I don't want to do the same to me with a too low price.

Have googled a lot and no real prices or info have come up on these scopes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There was the same setup at the Calgary show this year. I believe the price was $800, but it didn't sell. With the top cover, Sellers seem to be asking around a grand.

Marstar had them a number of year ago for $1100 for the complete setup, and they sold out.

There was a complete setup on ebay about a year or so back, even had the lense cloth and the screwdriver. That set sold for around $800 if I recall.

I've owned 3 of these, and in my honest opinion - it's the worst looking one I've ever seen, out of the 12 I've handled and owned.

The can is very rusty
The rear rubber eye piece is missing
The carrying strap has been cut off of the can
You have no lens caps

From the picture of it in the can, it looks as though it's separated from the base as well - off to one side inside the can, but put back together for the outside picture.

Also what the optics are like is a big deal killer as well. Almost all of these were rebuilt because of mould inside - causing the optics to look foggy a bit.

If this was in a lot better shape with none of the flaws I mentioned, you could potentionally be looking at $1000

The shape it's in right now - $200-400 at best. If I were looking at it, I'd be thinking about using it as a spares piece.

Please don't get offended, I've only owned mint as in like new or better ones.

Yours is in really bad shape.

heres a pic of what a complete set looks like and a complete set sells for approx $1000 but without the mount it sells for $450-500 (in vg-exc cond) .

the prize is not the scope but the top cover mount cos there are fewer mounts than scopes out there.

Hello, I have owned two of these and finally sold one off, I would say complete with mount and missing accessories, screw driver, vinyl lens caps and rubber eye piece if in reasonable condition you could expect $900 - $1000, I sold my less nicer one for $900 USD to a US FAL collector about 8 years ago, the one you have is in rough shape so would not expect more than $500 from a real die hard collector, they are getting rare so it will go up in price over the next 5-10 years, if you feel it is worth more try selling it on E-bay or a US gun website, you will more than likely get a better response but without a mount they are worth a lot less. A good project for a hard core FAL enthusiast to restore and find accessories for, best used as a spare or display model. cheers. g2.
