Update to LWRC. April 30, 2008.
They're just about moved into their new digs in MD. This is a big deal. They are now in a facility with enough space to make bombs and fuzes for the US Army. I want to say it's 40,000sq ft. It's big, and loaded with specialized large scale manufacturing equipment.
I think we have a workable solution to the problems we've encountered so far in exporting a rifle from a company that makes an "improved M4-type". When(If) we get the green light, we have a rifle. I do think we have it this time though.
If we get the green light, 10 weeks?, I will post then. Past that, expect at least 12weeks before they're ready for sale. Plus the mandatory two week unforseen regulatory roadblock, (requests for upper receiver serial numbers, planes hit by lightening, etc, etc). 24 weeks. So October?
If things go better, I for one, will be happy to announce it, but I've learned enough to not to expect grace when it comes to exporting specialized firearms from the USA. If I haven't posted an update since posting this, it's because there isn't one.
How much will they cost? The regular M6A2 costs $1900+ USD Stateside, and air freight is a #####.
Progress? We have an FRT#, and know exactly what is NOT allowed.
I've gone over the M6A2 and am confident people will find it worth the wait. LWRC remain willing and able to manufacture a rifle for Canada. We hope to have some demo guns over the summer.
The 308, give LWRC some more time for public sale on these.
Hope that covers it.
Regards all,
DT
