Remington R-15

I was hoping that the Canadian government would look at the R-15 as it did the Valmet, but no luck...

I can't see a single reason that this shouldn't happen either I would buy one in a heart beat if I could use it for predator hunting.

that would just open up so many issues...good for shooters maybe..

Issues
with who the anti-gun grabbers and Maybe nothing the laws that disallow the use of AR type for field use are absolutely ignorant and have no base too them.

This rifle represents our best chance to get the AR-15 or a specific model of AR-15 made unrestricted.

There is precedent for this (Valmet M78) and if we lobbied forcefully but thoughtfully we could make it hapopen. It would require some careful planning though rather than a haphazard letter writing campaign IMO. Any thoughts?

Bought it in Rimouski at my local shop for 970 $ plus taxes. Should receive it next week. It'll be my first AR so I thought I wouldn't spend too much but I'm sure it's my next addiction, just like all my 1911s...

Why would they do it. It doesn't even look different from a regular AR? Just cause you can get in .204 Ruger as well? Should 6.5 and 6.8 be non restricted as well. I guess that's a stupid question, in a perfect world they'd all be non restricted. But be that as it may the only thing that makes this thing different from any other AR is the licensed cam pattern and the engraving on the Magwell. There are no technical differences that I can see from a regular AR.

Exactly. It is just a ghey looking AR, but other than the paint job, its the same deal.

So what if it is the same deal if there is a chance no matter how unlikely that it could possibly go non-restricted we should be fighting for it with everything we have rather than having this defeatist attitude I read so often on this forum.

what shop is that or is it a secret? :)

Camp Cook, you just don't get it. I'm not saying you shouldn't fight for it, but the CORRECT battle would be to de-restrict all AR-15's.

What excuse will you use for the R-15? Because its painted camo? Because Remington made it?

You are better off fighting to derestrict all AR's based on their semi-auto only status, their barrel lengths, and their usefullness as a varmint rifle/small game, target shooting whatever.

That was his point... Start with R-15, then they all follow

It is pointless. You don't seem to get it. You have to argue to have it de-restricted, and as it is an AR15, to simply get the R15 derestricted you would have to argue that it is somehow different, other than its paint job. Which you will be unable to do successfully, and will be a large waste of time.

It is much better to spend money and time on getting the AR15 platform derestricted, which happens to be the category UNDER which the R15 falls.
