I have an STI Trojan (.45) arriving any day now. It comes with 1 Novak 8rd mag so I'm looking to buy 10 additional mags.

Wilson, Novaks, Chip McCormick, Mecgar, Metalform, Wolf, .... there's like 20 different brands to choose from in the Brownells 1911 catalog.

Anybody have experience that they can share and recommend a mag. The average price seems to be about $25-$35/mag with these brands.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Wilson or McCormick. If youll be dropping them like in IPSC or IDPA/CDPA.
If it's just static range use any one of those should be fine.

Buy 15 Wilson's and let them sort themselves down to 10.

Get the Wilson Combat's, plus Wolf spring replacement for when the factory springs wear out. Best mag on the market. The Chip McCormick can be a hit or miss thing. I've seen some CMC mags tear the hell out of alloy 1911s. Mec-Gar's have also been very, very good.

Seven-round, with a round-top follower, either Metalform or Wilson Combat's Wilson-Rogers(but not their cheap ones).

You can choose either stainless, blued, or black oxide, and with either a welded base or removable base, it's your choice.
The key to reliability is with the 7rd round follower.

I have wilson magazines that are 18 years old and still running strong. I cant say enough good things about the Wilson mags.

I have picked up 2 of the Tripp Cobramags to try in 9mm, I have no idea if their .45acp mags are as good as the Wilsons but I may check those out too some time.

Remember that I have about 17 1911s to feed and all of the magazines I have purchased in the last three years have been MetalForm. MetalForm offers a quality product and discounts for large purchases. Regards, Richard:)

I forgot about Metalforms! They're pretty good too! We had a CGN group buy on these a couple of years back because of that discount for bulk purchases. Haven't heard any complaints from the buyers since then.
