Extension rings on a rotary dovetail aren't a very good set-up.Normally the front ring holds just about everything, but when you introduce another lever into the equation it's stability is ruined. Any pressure or impact on the side of the front ring wants to turn it in the base. The only thing stopping it is the aluminum tube of the scope itself and a friction fit on the rear mounting screws. Counting on the aluminum scope to hold the position of your steel bases isn't a great plan.
If it were my rifle I'd be looking for some crossbolt rings and a rail. That way you get rid of that extension and get two rings holding instead of one.
