My Norinco Type 97 Shorty - Range Report Post # 80!!!!

Something like that might work fine - though the sight channel would have to be fairly low as the rear sight is real low on the 97...here's what it kinda looks like when I eyeballed it just now:

Then it wouldn't work. Not enough space for screws.

That's pic is from a French show....you know they are crazier than us, right? :)

I received RS rail from Airsoft Atlantic last Friday. The rail is 24 USD but sh!t, the UPS handling fee is 20 dollars!!!!

The rail is high quality, However, the two screws are a little weak for a real rifle. It's in my friend's machine shop now. Twoo more jack screws will be added.

Cheers,

Michael

Yea same here, but mine is on hold: from UPS web site: A HOLD HAS BEEN REQUESTED. PAYMENT MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO RELEASE.... WTF?!?!?

Anyway, regarding the two more screws you plan to add, please post some picture since I may have to do that to. Wondering if a small welding spot would not be the best thing to do? I did not have my rifle yet but is there any problem if the rail is on a permanent setup?

For casual use the rail will be fine. Just make sure you sinch it up againt the nub on the rail. A dab of weld bond should hold it on a little more permanent though under normal use it probably doesn't need it. Nemo hasn't had any problems with his. A better designed rail is needed though.

I will have my mount Monday and will start on the redesign. With the new one you will drop the mount down over the built-in rail and push it forward to the recoil shoulder before snugging the bolts. The dovetail cut will not pass end to end , the design will have basically a machined pocket with an interupted pattern on the bottom of the mount that matches the cuts on the built-in rail.
Clear as mud? :D

I got the same notice - just means you need to pay a "brokerage fee" when the driver delivers it.
