I recently bought a Knoxx SpecOps folder for Rem 870. I found that the fitting to the receiver for the Knoxx folder is not very good comparing to the original butt stock (shown in the following pictures).

Is this normal or something wrong here:redface:? Thanks a lot.

It's normal tolerances some fit better then others.
You could remove a little material from the knoxx to make it fit better or just shoot it lot's and let the plastic compress to a better fit over time,,,,

Thank you for the reply. In the instruction of Knoxx, it mentioned something about removing "metal spacer" from the back of receiver; however, I did not find any of those "spacer". The only thing there are the Stock bearing plate and stock stud, which are not removable.

I guess that you are right. I will see how it shoots.

The spacer is for wood stocks, your stock will probably loosen up as you shoot it and if you keep tightening it it will likely seat itself slowly.

Hey guys,

I plan to buy the Spec ops stock to put on my 870 express super magnum i bought last autumn. I want to know if it is difficult to install and if you need to cut or drill something. And does every owner of that stock is satisified with it??

I think that when they say metal spacer, it is the bearing plate that they are talking about.

Ryback, how can we possibly speak for every owner "of that stock"?
The Spec Ops is very easy to to install. If it fits your model of shotgun there will be no cutting or drilling required.

In stead of using the Remington ball end hex driver, I adapted a regular allen wrench by cutting off the bent end with bolt cutters. Then I was able to use a ratchet with some extensions (3/16's socket) for installing my Spec Ops on my 870. The extra torque I was able to use took care of that pesky gap your concerned about.

Thank you Austen for your comprehension! Please excuse my bad english, i don't speak it regurlarly (my first language is french). But i assume that you have one (stock ops) and that you are satisfied!

they seem to be popular aftermarket stocks, I had one and liked it; however, chose to stick with hogue due to lighter weight.

Austen is correct, much of the gap may be removed by torquing a little more, just be careful not to strip the threads.

Yes I think the Spec Ops is great! I got it for the recoil reduction. My 870 is definiately heavier with the extras I've added then when it was stock. But I'm very happy with it how it turned out.

I love mine so much, I bought the whole family.....:dancingbanana:
Spec Ops collapsible, Cop Stock folder, and Breachers Grip.....
Now all I need is a few more shotties to mount them on, and I'll be good to go.:D
My 870 with Spec Ops sits beside my Grizz with the S&J 12.5" rail, with CAA collapsible stock...soon to have one of my numerous Endine buffers, once I can round up a Mil Spec stock for the tube...
I was hoping to have a comparison up by now, but them 'Mericans ain't makin' it easy...

:shotgun:

Thank you all!!
I ordered mine to a store near me (Québec). I hope it's not gonna take too long!! I hate waiting!!
