So every once in awhile we see a UMP or a g36c or a colt le up for sale... Why are they so rare and is there really no possibility of bringing new ones in?
 
Its the german governments export laws. They dont allow a gun company to sell a rifle to civilians thats "based off" a military rifle. Or something along those lines, dont quote me on that exactly.

The few that have gotten into Canada into civie hands, were usually mistakes, LE agencies getting rid of semi-auto only rifles that they dont want, or possibly the movie industry (like the MP7's that are in Canada right now)
 
So, the supply chain for civies like me is:

H&K dealer sells to LE officer who then sells it to general public?

I wonder if those auxillary/community police are able to purchase LE only imports =)

No go as they are sold to the department and become their property, you might get away with that on a US export on an LE carbine for individual purchase, but not with H&K LE/MIL product.

So if I have a LEO friend in the US, the US DoS wouldn't allow the permit?

I figure they must not, because we'd be seeing alot more of them up here if they did, but i was wondering if anyone knew for sure
