I just came back from the gun show in Irishtown, just outside of Moncton NB, and I can't believe the prices $465 for a Marlin 1894 chamber in 44mag, for a few more dollars you can buy a new one, $400 for a savage 340 in a 30-30, for the same money you can buy a stevens 200 in a 308win and $500 for a remington 788 in a 308win, that just stupid, they were $300 new!! Thats just my 2 cents, I won't buy used anymore for a few bucks more I can buy new
 
Some people will not pay the price....BUT many will. Pieces of history do not come cheap....much like people collect cars...other collect guns....just look at the prices the cars attract on Barrett Auctions and antiques are worth on the roadshow. it is the age.... not the product that keeps the prices high. I personally would rather take a 100 year old gun to the range and shoot it than to buy a new gun, that everyone else has.. just my $0.02 worth.
 
Yeah I was there today and didn't see much to attract my attention.I picked up a few odds and ends I needed but the quality of the firearms with the prices didn't add up.I guess that is why they were still there on display
 
That's the reason I don't go to that show anymore. I can get better deals right here. It was way better when it was in Riverview.

Was it pretty crowded there? Sat morning usually is the busiest.

The one in Mtl. just yesterday was a prime example. Chinese SKS in a $75 Monte Carlo stock was $500. Norinco M14S with a real cheapo scope $700. Seems many people selling at the shows are not too worried about always having the same rifles for sale at every show. Seems to me it cost these guys more money to rent a table than they make selling firearms, just in hope of finding a Fish.
 
Same things go on here. Take alook at a certain .270 thats been on the board for 6 months or more with out a price drop ;)
I quite going to gunshows and even dealing with local dealers after finding they mark everything up atleast 20% of market value.

Thats why they call it a "Gun Show" and not a "Gun Sale".

Wake up and smell the roses boys, the price can always be put down, but it can't be put up.

When you buy a used vehicle, do you pay the asking price without question? Of course not. Why be any different with used guns.

There was a 340 savage in 225win that caught my eye, a buddy of mine asked how much, $450 with the scope, the scope wasn't worth anything, so he came down $20 and that was as far as he would go, what I'm saying is that rifle is worth about $300 at the most

Yup, they show up qith the same firearms every damn show. There are a few that are close to reasonable, but vast majority are way over priced.
 
Yeah and then there was the shotguns with black tape holding them together for $100 and the guns that looked like they were used for boat anchors and so on
