Leather Slings with Cartridge Loops?

Am I out to lunch here? I can't seem to find these anywhere on the 'net'

I'm looking for a 1 - 1 1/2 inch sling that has a dozen or so cartidge loops.

Any suggestions?

Have you ever fired a long gun with bullets hanging on the sling?

It isn't that good of an idea if you want to make accurate followup shots remember the sling starts swinging so hard that you can't hold the long gun still.
 
You can probably find a nylon or leather bandolier and wear it belt style for fast access to additional rounds, or a convenient place to stow some after unloading. I used to have a leather sling that had a nice little pouch in it that you could store 3 rounds in. It was tight and they didn't rattle around.

No I haven't but I'm open to all feed back, It would be used on a .44mag carbine lever gun. Initially I was just looking for a leather sling to go with the "image" of a lever gun but then thought why not have cartridge storage as well...

As far as the swinging sling, when I shoulder the rifle the sling is taught on my forearm elbow.

Well....it should go very well with a set of pearl handled grips and a gold tooth.......very stylish.
 
I use a butt stock bullet holder on my rifles so that I never have to deal with the weight on the sling.

Here is a pic of my Puma M92 454 Casull rifle I am looking for a black leather butt stock shell holder but have only found a fellow in the States that is doing them whereas I would prefer to deal with a Canadian maker.

CC, I see what you mean, a leather sock would look and function well. Seems like that would be a better route.

p.s. if I wanted to pimpout my 336 SRC I'd just put a flashlight and laser beam on it.

a couple of points- i've got a nylon sock , and the loops are too long for the 44 mag- and they slip out easily- with 9-10 in the rifle, why do i need ANOTHER 5?-it also slips around on the stock, so i've anchored it with a screw, and if you're left handed , it has to be invertedto work on the left side of the stock, or put on backwards,- minor point, but i found the manufacturer's label sticking into my cheek- i'm of the opinion ammo belongs in a pouch( hunters makes a great drop down one) , or in a bandolier- not hanging off the gun somewhre, unless it's a sidesaddle and on the receiver
 
Look at the picture above the purpose of the bullets in the butt holder is for when I am back in camp and don't want to leave the rifle loaded or I'm traveling in my truck and have the rifle out and don't want bullets covered by a jacket in a belt pouch or laying around in my pockets.

After years of trying just about every method you can think of this is by far the best and most conveniant way for me.

One last thought I do not carry the rifle loaded with the butt shell holder loaded, I may slip a spare 1 or 2 in but this holder is to hold the bullets that go into the rifle.

Doesn't matter what you think, the question was do you know where he can get one?

If not commercially available, find a leatherworker and he/she can make it to order.

Yes, you are correct on both counts.... the best course would be to make one himself, it is a relatively simple affair.

I took a soldering iron and borned a small hole in the nylon...the sling wivel fits through this and that holds it in place.
 
Or you could loosen the recoil pad and slip the rear portion of the sleeve slightly under the pad then retighten it holds the sleeve better than any other way I have found.
 
I find a stock sock like the one pictured is great for use with my single shots. It keeps the extra rounds handy. I did cut a slit in mine so i can access the sling swivels and this also helps in keeping it in place. I prefer this to installing a screw as all that is "damaged" is the sock and there are no marks on the stock itself.
