I want to know if someone have a good source for cheap .303 rounds. it's for bench shooting with my No.4 rifle, the only place i can get ammo locally is at Canadian Tire and their cheapest box of 20 sell around 20$. I will reload this caliber in the future but now i have no space for that.
Any advice?

Be patient... And a small reloading starter's kit isn't taking much room.

I was in Montreal a few weeks ago at the gun show and I found a bit of cheap ammo.

Maybe a gun show in Quebec City would yield similar results?

I've reloaded well over a thousand rounds already with my Lee Hand Press Kit, and haven't even bothered to set up the Challenger Press that I hope to mount on a table some day. If you can afford a Hand Press Kit, dies, scale, case trimmer, chamfer tool, primer pocket cleaner, manual and components, you'll be able to make accurate reloads for your .303 with minimal space.

I've already loaded around 100 rounds of .303 SP and about 400 rounds of cast. I'm planning to shoot my .303s a fair bit this summer and would hardly have been able to do so had I been waiting for cheap ammo to appear. That would be my suggestion.

Regards,

Frank

And even if you don't want to get into loading yourself, just ask around at the local gun shops and I'm sure you can find someone who will do it for you for less than Factory ammo.

Lee makes the cheapest press, one version is hand held and the other is bench mounted.
By not reloading you are throwinf away the most expnsive part of the cartridge, the brass case.
The days of CHEAP .303 are long past.

how much would it cost for me to make cheap plinking round reloads? not including the cost of the reloading equipment, or brass since i have saved all my .303 once fired brass..

and what would the approx. cost be to get the required reloading equipment?

You could take a look at Higginson's website, it's a company in Hawkesbury, ON, and they have a price list on it; or visit SIR mailorder's website. To get an idea of the stuff you want in terms of equipment, take a look at something like Lee Precision tool. Have fun (I know I am, just begun reloading myself) :)

My first and only reloading kit is with one of them Lee hand loaders, and yes it was the .303 that I first started reloading. A great affordable system overall. I've even taken it to the range and made on the spot custom loads with it. :)

If you are going to reload .303, be advised because of the design of the internal web of the cartridge case where the walls meet the rim, you can expect at most 5-6 reloads per cartridge case. Buying a broken case extractor is mandatory!!
