Gentlemen,

What would be the value of a 1943 AC 43 marked P38 with all matching numbers and 90% remaining bluing? Minor holster wear. Nazi markings with 359 under them...

I know an older gent that would like to sell it to me, but he has no idea of the value. I have seen the gun, and it looks better than almost all ac 43 examples I've seen on the net.

He doesn't know where the mag is (he's looking for it, and should find it), but it would be matching.

Any idea on the value of such a piece? I can 100% assure that it's not a refurb or bubba. It has one previous owner before the seller, and he is no longer with us.

Should I look for anything in particular? I may be able to get some pics if needed.

Any help would be great - I'm looking to fairly compensate this guy.

Ac code p38 is a desierable code. Walther produced some of the nicest. They stopped serialing the mag to the pistol around the "e" block of 1942, so yours would not be serialed, but would have the correct WaA markings. Without seeing the pistol, I would estimate without holster approx $500-$600.
 
I matching original finish, Joe's estimates are what I would hope to pay, but realistically it would be listed more like $700-800.

The RC ones last year at SIR were selling more than $550.
 
I would say around $500. I would not pay that much though. While I don't have an AC I have a BYF and a couple of CYQs in very good condition and paid $150 - $175 each (about 6 years ago).
 
I'll buy EVERY matching vet bringback P38 you can give me in nice shape for $500 each - I await your replys. Look for them soon on the EE for $650-700 each ;)

Get real guys, post-war aluminum non-collectible P1's are selling in the $400-500 range these days. RC's sold out at SIR mail order - force-matched re-blued Russian junk for $500-650 each.
 
Are the RC ones marked with an "X" like the Mauser rifles?

Hmm..... and i thought I was paying upper end in November for an extremely nice AC 1943, with 2 mags and original holster. Looks like at the very least I got an extra mag and holster for free plus a great deal on the pistol!:)

In the unlikely event that it's not registered, barrel length should be 4.75" - could it be registered? My guess is yes, since it wouldn't be a prohib, but I'm guessing I'd need it verified to be entered into the system...

Yes, the RC's are marked with the ugly X, are sometimes renumbered, often import marked, and are hot-dip reblued. Bores are usually less than ideal as well.
 
It could still be, not ALL of them are X marked - just most :) The biggest clue is that the RC's are reblued, usually this means the barrel and locking block are also reblued.
 
I was pretty positive the P-38's I have are not RC. They are original finish etc etc. was just wondering if there were any typical identifiers that were different from the Mauser rifle identifiers.
