Other explosives in the house

Vic777 is correct. Smokeless doesn't explode when touched off with a flame. If she is really concerned about explosives in the house, she should consider getting rid of all the aresol cans in the house. Oven cleaner, non stick spray, Lysol, hair net, ect. - will go blow up real good compared to your smokeless powder. Oh, and another thing, tell her the crap she has seen in movies is really wrong. Good luck!

yea I will burn some powder for her, and show her that it just burns I will see how she feels about doing it in the garage

I built a 5 foot tall Tesla coil in my garage. I put a 30 foot ham radio tower on the side of the house with 4 antennas and 3 satellite dishes on it. I almost burnt the house down with some linseed oil soaked rags in the basement (only got to the smoking stage before I found them :D ). I put a home built airtight wood burning stove in my garage right in the middle of Burlington Ontario. It was the ugliest thing you ever saw, but it worked better than any commercial unit thats made today.

After all that, reloading is mild :D LOL!!!!

I notice when any of us mention our wifes in a post there are plenty of witty replies, which are usually amusing.I just tell my wife we will put it under the stairs by front door and when fire dept comes. I tell them not to go in too dangerous. Let it burn, let it burn, let it burn. That is what insurance is for isn't it?

go one step further and burn the powder on a piece of cardboard box,the powder will burn and the cardboard woulnt even be very hot, touch it right away it is warm but not hot, you only need to burn a spoon full to get enough effect. I do this when I pull bullets that i dont know what the powder is and I use cardboard as to not stain the floor.

Is she okay with ammunition in the house? Not too many women I know will care about the logic that the components are as safe as the ammo, it's all about trust.. "Honey, the ammo hasn't been a problem, trust me this is no different"... it's all about the trust... unless of course you take her to the range, she gets hooked, and you can spend Friday evenings loading ammo gettin' ready for the weekend..

You mean I was suppose to tell her what was in all those boxes? :D

I just told here not to light any matches in my hobby room and not to use the vacuum in there, just sweep (ya, like thats going to happen).

My response is "That's okay dear. load all you want as long as you load some for me too. I might even buy you some shotgun shells for Valentine's Day anniversary. etc." I love my personal loader.

My wife loaded ammo for me once when I was too busy working to get ready for a match. How did the ammo work you ask? I won the match and only dropped 3 points all weekend, all pilot error. Best ammo I ever shot, too bad I can't get her to do all my loading.

I'm afraid to ask Tom but is she still doing more important stuff like the laundry?

I don't think it's so much about trust as it is education... somehwere along the line many folks male or female have lost the ability to reason. The anti's and the political agendas really sucked some brains out of people's heads. Take Koyto for example... people really wrapped their heads around that one... I'll trade ya a billion credits... sure why not...

This is what I was going to say - reloading components are no more (probably less) dangerous to keep around than loaded ammo. Got any spray paint, acetone, propane - it's all worse...

I have NEVER heard of a reloading related incident that caused any damage or injury.

Ever see the Mythbusters episode where they torched a building packed full of loaded ammo? Not one single projectile passed through any of the walls - lots of primer popping and a pool of melted lead after a really hot fire - no problems.

I'm sure you're not alone with this 'predicament'...

I'm off to load some target loads for my wife!!!!!! :D

Good luck!

What Press?

damn all you who's wives love to shoot haha.;) It will just take her some time but she will come around. she felt the same way about having guns in the house at first, and now she is fine. It is just an out of sight out of mind thing for her I guess, so I won't make a big deal out of it when I slip down stairs to load some up.

here's another question what press should I buy?? my brothers and I have an old RCBS (not a rockchucker) any opinions? redding, RCBS, Lynman, Lee
