VZ-58 The short version

999:

It has been some time since there has been an update to this project. I am just curious to see how things have progressed and how your neat "little" project is running.

Is there anything you might do differently, or any advice you might have to share for those of us contemplating something similar.

Regards and all the best

What problems did you have turning down the barrel, also the legalities?

Being I got a VZ 58 ( restricted ) and I wanted to Krink it, But did not know if you can etc...

Robert:

I can not offer any advice on verification, however, If your going to krink, here are some muzzle breaks you might want to consider. My understanding is that they have no issue shipping to Canada. Just cut and paste the link and remove the spaces.

Krinkov 14x1 RH 7.62 CaliberA replica of Soviet Brake. This brake is mainly used for SKS, AK-47, Mak-90. The single chamber is designed to eliminate most of the muzzle rise and recoil for faster and more comfortable shooting. The exit cone directs flash away from the shooter. This muzzle brake comes with the 14x1 RH thread and can be attached simply to any threaded barrel

or this one

74 Style 14x1 RH 7.62 Caliber
74 STYLE is a replica of the Soviet Brake used in the Russian Military. Two openings located on the top of the brake prevent extensive climb. Large side openings at the end direct fire to the sides away from shooters view. Four front holes approximately in 60 degree angles direct escaping gases forward from the wider chamber. The pressure of gases develops the recoil compensation effect. This brake by its design eliminates at least 45% of recoil.

I was thinking keeping it Russian Style and going with the Bulgarian Krinkov 4 piece flash suppressor. Its already bored out for 762X39 and its Chromed lined for the corrosive ammo I shoot, Its in the Std AK thread, But can get a AR15 thread adapter..

Actually I tired and ordered a Ruger 1022 FH from Brownells and they said its a Class 1 or 3 item and could not be shipped to us.

Am I legally allowed to use a Hack Saw or a Chop Saw to shorten the barrel?

I'm thinking of the idea shorten it and use a AK47 thread adapter and tac weld it onto the barrel.
