Looking for the best 20 gauge autoloader for my wife

I'm new to this forum and to firearms in general (I'm waiting for my PAL to arrive).

I've been doing some research on a shotgun for my wife for home defense and have decided I'd like to get a 20 gauge autoloader. The most impressive one to me so far seems to be the Benelli M2 Field. My questions are:

1) On their web site it doesn't show it with the M4 style SteadyGrip. Can one be added to it, and can I get one that is shorter than normal?
2) The shortest barrel they sell it with appears to be 24". That seems a bit long for inside a home. Can I get a shorter barrel for it somewhere?
3 The magazine capacity is 3+1. Can it be made to hold more?

Basically I'd like her to have a 20 gauge autoloader with less recoil, a short stock, a short barrel and as large a magazine as possible

I look forward to your responses and please let me know if there aare other guns/options that I'm unaware of.

why a autoloader??
auto are a bit heaver and some models are longer

pumps are good rem 870

coach gun or over&under are simple and reliable (get her western shooting)for practice

12 gauge light loads for practice
ive seen teenage girls and boys on scout weekends ask for more and not complain only comment!!!

So it is going to sit in a corner/cabinet/safe for a loooong time, if, and that is IF it ever gets used.

The time spent at the range will be nice but that's about it. M4 = $$$$. Very nice indeed. For $2000 that you would spend on M4, I would get instead one BPS High Capacity ( and let your wife enjoy a well made pump ) and one M2 field for me to enjoy it at the range and hunting.

I want an autoloader because as one article I've read states: "The auto makes sense for use under stress by anyone who hasn't pumped a slide action thousands of times and learned to do it on "auto pilot," and also works vastly better if one arm is injured."

Plus I think they would be more fun to shoot out in the bush.

Does anyone have any answers to my questions?

I'm not concerned about the cost as I wish to purchase the best available. I'm getting an M4 for myself. My post said that I wish thinking of an M2 Field for her.
