First of all, is it legal in Canada to remove import markings? Secondly, if so, how would one go about doing this, to make the rifle look authentic again?
At this point in time only the serial number is important so go ahead and remove what ever else you don't like.
To make it look"authentic" you will need to refinish the metal and for a real nice job that will probably mean the whole thing and not just the part that got worked on.
Depends on the markings....some are deeper and others are not.
Post a picture.
I've removed markings with a diamond stone and then refinished with cold blue but for a nice job hot bluing the entire gun is the way to go.
Import marks are a U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968 thing. You will find the stamps are deeper than you think though. Taking them off is not worth bothering with.
