SL8 AR mag conversion

Just did this and its really cool to have 10 rounds:DI don't know of a downside except having to put out $200 more bucks?
 
Gathering from what the guys at hkpro are talking about, it's the G36 bolt that needs works and not the SL8 so it will pick up rounds. With the AR mag does the bolt lock open on an empty mag Dgal....Bob

It's the SL8 bolts that are in the US that need work. In the US the SL8 mags are single stack so the bolt is different than the ones for the double stack mags. The G36 and Canadian SL8s have double stack mags and and the AR mags are double stack so there is no need to change the bolt.
 
Half an hour , dremel tool, sandpaper and we are good to go with 10 rd AR mags. Wish the release was on the trigger hand side but I can life with this...Bob
 
The mag conversion works great and the rifle is amazing. After zeroing the scope with Fed 55gn played with some reloads of Sierra 65 SBT and 69gn SMK. WOW! Took at little getting use to the light weight of the rifle but once got something to support the butt end of the stock I had a 2-2.25" group and finished with a 1' by 1.5" group at 200yds.Might have been the new rifle syndrome but I'm still impressed. An interesting note, I was reloading fired Fed brass for the reloads and the primer pockets were a ##### even when cleaned and crimp removed causing flattened primers.Three times I had two round bursts even none of the primers were high. This wasn't a problem with the factoy ammo so I going to pick up some Winchester brass at WSS. This summer is going to be very interesting and busy...Bob
