I am interested in the 5.45 soviet cartridge that replaced the 7.62/39.
It seems like it might be quite similar to the .223 Nato round?
I would also love to learn more about the AN95 which was supposed to replace the AK for all of Russia's military but now looks like it is only going to be certain units.

I would especially like to hear from people who have shot the 5.45 and get their views on it and comparison the the 7.62/39 and .223.

Are their any Canada legal rifles that use it and if so how is ammo in cost availability and quality? Now that 7.62/39 is getting harder to come by maybe this is an acceptable substitute?

Another round I have always loved is the 7.62/25. An American buddy has a CZ52 which takes it and has a very nifty roller delay action. Also the Tokarev was very much the Soviet version of the US Colt .45 ACP and in many parts of the world is just as common.

It was out of fashion for a while but seems to be making a comeback. The Russians are using it a lot for subguns because it is great at penetrating
Body armour which is common with the Russian gangsters.

I have a theory that all the Soviet 7.62 rounds ,7.62/25 ,7.62/39 and 7.62/54
were the same because it made tooling much easier.

I've heard that some of the early AKs used retooled Mosin barrels. Whether thats true or not it doesn't seem unlikely.
