I have a winchester 140 semi that I can't get the barrel apart. It's been awhile since I took it apart and don't recall doing anything other than unscrew the cap and pull the barrel off. No Go It seems to be ceased up. What should I try? Thanks for any help guy"s

I am not really familiar with the 140, but first thing that comes to mind that you didn't mention is: do you have the action open?

I recently had a similar issue with a Remington 1100 that hadn't had its barrel off in eons. It had a little rust and dried oil on the mag tube where the barrel attached. All that was required was a little penetrating oil and a LIGHT tap with a soft mallet.

Try putting a penetrant on the forend cap and where the barrel meets the reciever. the barrel extension down in the reciever gets rusted and corroded in. Keep applying penetrant and keep trying to free the barrel.Take a rubber mallet and firmly tap the reciever and barrel and even on the muzzle end of the barrel. Not hard tapping just firm. It may take a while but it should free up.If your forend cap is ceased, try wrapping a heavy rag around it, after applying penetrant, and with vise grips, adjust til they fit snug and turn.

Thanks for the info guys. Action was open, but I was sure that it didn't mattered on this model. Been awhile for this gun. I will give it a blast of wd-40 later and see if this works. Many thanks guy's

WD-40 is NOT a good penetrating oil and loosener.
It shines as an all-purpose cleaner and (WD) water-displacing fluid. Better use the real stuff, Kroil or other, even if it smells to no end everafter.

Unsticking

What about (release all) It smells like hell but do you think that would be a better bet?
If it's made specifically for unsticking seized bolts, then use it. Sometimes, it works better if the seized parts are subjected to small minute shocks or torsions; this helps the fluid get further by inducing changes in the capillarity path.
As soon as the fluid gets between the parts, they cannot bond again and the parts will begin to turn. Do not force them; just add some more fluid, back off a bit then go at it again.
Good luck!

Have you tried having the action half open? On one of my shotguns (I forget which one) this has to be done. Might be my 870.

Have you tried imagining you're with the most attractive girl you can think of while stroking it? If that doesn't work, try letting the most attractive girl you know do the stroking.;)

Thanks for the wonderful advice. No I have never try the first part of your advice. As for the second part, she is terrified of handling such a BIG barrel as it might ( go off ) in her hand to quickly. LOL.
