ACR UPDATE
We continue to receive numerous calls from customers as to the status of the new Bushmaster ACR platform that we partnered with Magpul to bring to market. In an effort to try to keep all of our customers up to date – Bushmaster is happy to provide the following information:

Based upon the current level of production here at Bushmaster, and a number of military related projects – the Commercial version of the ACR originally slated for later in 2008, is currently being slated for a Q1 2009 release to the consumer markets. This allows us to continue our focus of preparing the ACR for initial Law Enforcement and Military demos, tests and evaluations which we are scheduling at this time. If your agency or unit has not yet had the chance to schedule a demonstration for this summer, and would like to – please send a note to acr@bushmaster.com.

In the meantime – the ACR will available to be seen in Booth 742 at the NRA show this weekend in Louisville for those consumers attending. We will endeavor to provide a new update on the release of the consumer versions of this exciting new rifle platform in late summer. As always, we appreciate your interest in Bushmaster, and loyalty to our brand.

So they are telling to us: "f**k the civilian market! L.E and military are more important!"

We (civillians) are probably the clients who keep them alive.

Actually it looks alot more like they are continuing to test and evaluate the rifle, and receive feedback so you don't get a crappy product.

What Bushmaster is saying is "Mil and LE actually use their rifles in a working capacity. Meaning, they protect and defend life with the gear they are issued."

It doesn't take a genius to realize that Mil and LE are far more important than civilian sales for the onset of a new product. The FN-FAL, AK47, AR15, Tavor, even the SKS were all designed for the military. Not for the civilian.

I'd say the "mil & LEO" statement is more to cover their ongoing R&D on the rifle to get most of the kinks worked out so they won't have to do any recalls and to minimize warranty work. Saying their concentrating on Mil & LEO demos, etc...sure sounds better than the rifle isn't exactly ready for sale yet! I hope they get the kinks worked out and we see a version here in Canada. Even if Bushmaster is making it, I want one!:) Based on the pattern established with the XCR, it'll probably be at least 8-10 months after broad American release before we see the first shipment of ACRs up here in Canada. I'd probably say longer, due to the demand for this new toy in the US.

Sounds like everything is according to plan.

2 years ago at SHOT the Magpul guys told me in person that the real reason they designed the rifle was to aviod another AWB. Lots of Americans can smell it from far far away.

Anyone who actually believes they can get them out by Q2 is super naive, when they don't even have iniital production prototypes out that are made by Bushmaster at SHOT.
