Stripper Clip Functionality In CZ858/VZ58S

Are you able to use stripper clips to load your CZ858/VZ58S

The stripper clip guide on my CZ858 is too wide to retain the clip, so it can not be loaded with chargers. Others have reported the same issue.

Do you have this issue on your rifle?
 
Its not as positive as a SKS but it works fine for me. You just need to make sure its lined up properly. It is slower then the SKS but it was never meant to load the weapon, just to charge the mags before and after a fire fight.
 
There's not enough of the guide to align the clip on my rifle. If you let go of the charger, it will fall out of the guide. I would have to use two hands to load from chargers. That is not the way it was designed.
 
here stevo , these pics will explain it better .... the carrier does not have lips to hold the clip . if i were to let it go , it will fall off.

Other than the fact they're too wide to hold the clip, there's no problem at all.:rolleyes:

Look at the front view, you can see the entire width of the charger. There's nothing retaining it in the bolt carrier.
 
You have to push them deep until the little bosses on each side of the clip fall into the indents. The end of the clip is held by the rear of the mag and is very secure.
Push the clip's contents into the magazine and the clip becomes very easy to remove.
Not as fast as the SKS but this wasn't designed for hasty reloading. Still, it is a very good setup which avoids needing a separate gizmo to load mags in the field.

I am officially an idiot. PP's explanation finally got through my thick skull. :slap:

All is well, the chargers work as intended. Nothing to see here now.
 
Strippers work well for me. must make sure the bottom of the clip seats into the top of the mag. Anyone that knows there weapon well can push the top of the stack of ten with one hand until the mag. is full repeat until all ur mags. are packed. Get grip Soldier:cool:
 
awesome post here, I had the same issue as stevo trying to load a clip as it would fall forward and was difficult to do. It was one of the reasons that I bought my .58 because of the stripper clip functionality and was disappointed to learn that it was built poorly... or so I thought.
I'll have to try inserting them deeper and have the clip go into the rear of the mag.
