Anyone recognize these Chinese markings?

Any info would be appreciated.

Another member thought they may be a Chinese proof/code or maybe a unit marking? He suggested I post to pick the "board brains"

Similar markings are shown in "the inglis diamond" by Law. On a Hi-Power captured by the Brits in Korea IIRC and returned to Brit service.

Chinese property or rebuild markings, I'll look.

The script on a usual CH marked Inglis (shown above) translates to "Property of the Chinese Republic" - there are 6 characters involved. Not sure what yours reads or how they got there - I don't think they were applied at the Inglis plant.
I couldn't say if thats a stock for a Mauser, but its not a "S.A. Ltd." stock.

It's four markings short I know. HP fits the stock holster? Perhaps modified? Most likely a repo. Hard to tell with the leather but it does "Taper" toward the butt.

WRT how people today are taller + have longer arms than the average Joe did during the 1940's, the brommhandle style would probably be more comortable to shoot due to the extra length.

The stock is for a broomhandle. Has a longer and straighter butt than the HP version which tapers a bit.

John

Not necessarily. The stock may be in the broomhandle design, but it could well have been made for the Inglis. My guess is that the stock is recent commercial/knock-off production or for internal Chinese use.

Tell you what; next time you come down to my place, you can compare the 2 of the knock-offs I have with the 5 original Inglis Hi-power stocks I also have.:D:D What the hell, I will even pull out a couple of the artillery Luger stocks and we'll have a grand old time!:D

Haha, ok, I'll bring my home made luger stock also to compare. Now I'm regretting my Inglis is not cut for shoulder stock.

We would mostly not view Public and Official as synonymous, in this case they sound like a non-military use. Does any one know if civilian ownership is allowed in China?

Right you are. It is on page 215. The markings translate to "Public (or) Official gun".
