8mm Mauser ammo

good luck in finding some case lots, this supply dried up many years ago. the only way to get any amount of the stuff is to reload it.

I had a hundred rounds ot the latest Turkish import given to me last week. Took it out and tried it this morning in 3 different rifles. All quite accurate with handloads. Better than I can shoot with ageing eyes anyway.

It wasn't worth what the fellow paid for it, as far as I'm concerned.

Best group at 100m was 6 1/2 in. Dirty and corrosive to boot. I pulled and weighed the bullets, threw the cases and powder away. The bullets were a very consistant 154gr, +or- 1.5gr. boat tail. They may be ok in handloads. The brass was very clean and fresh though, no oxidation present on any part of the cartridge.

I suspect the powder and or the primers may have been deteriorating, because the dispersion was more vertical than horizantal.

Some of the surplus they are bringing into the states just isn't worth bothering with.

Plenty (well, a hell of a lot more than here anyhow) south of the border - as if you didn't already know the answer...

its a sent south its not approved here and/or worth the hassel to approve here for the limited amout you could sell compared with the us market

Right now there not much 8mm in the US either. A bit of Portuguese and Hirtenberger . The Hirtenberger is going for $350 to 450 per 1,000 and the Portuguese a bit cheaper, IF you can find it.

There was lots of Yugo 1 or 2 years ago, but it's all gone now.

ADDED: There is also some Turkish surplus in the US right now.
