Aftermarket stock for a Remington 700

Need some suggestions for a Remington 700 ADL or SPS aftermarket stock. I like the Hogue overmoulded and I was wondering what else is available? I don't want a target stock, I like a larger curl on the grip but I don't want anything heavy. What are some suggestions, and where can I get them? Thanks,

Note: haven't purchased one yet, but it will be a 308 for sure.

They tend to be expensive, but McMillan stocks are top quality. My impression with the factory Hogue stock on the Ruger Alaskan was reasonably positive. Other options are HS Precision, Bell and Carlson, and some guys report success with the low priced Ramline products.

I'd wait and see if you actually need a stock other than the factory stock. If you do go that route, take the effort to have it properly bedded even if you choose a stock that is advertised as a drop in.

Robertson stocks have a pistol grip as you describe on some of their models.

I bought a Bansner for my SPS 270Win. They are less expensive then the McMillans but do work well. I sold this rifle last year and bought it back this year after regretting the sale.

It shoots too .........

I was considering one of the Richard Microfit Stocks but no answer to e-mail, voice mail box full, today website down... not confidence inspiring. Reviews on the laminate stocks seemed positive though. rifle-stocks.com

If you are looking for a lightweight stock the laminates will disappoint you.

They are heavy.

Thanks for the warning SuperCub. Richards also had a "light weight" laminate and various hardwoods (some nice Walnuts) but as the business appears to be MIA will keep an eye on this thread and look for alternatives.

I put a McMillan on my LH LA BDL and I am quite pleased with it.

My second choice would have been a H-S Precision.

I went with the McMillan because it is layers of fiberglass (instead of having a foam insert in the fore-end like the H-S Prec.)

Also, the McMillan carries a lifetime warranty.

Lightweight

I have a Lonewolf composites carbon fibre stock that with aluminum pillars, stainless steel sling studs and a pachmeyer presentation pad weighs about 10.5 oz. This is on my 300WSM 700SA, total scoped weight is 5.75 lbs.
