My faves are the two I own.
I have had Colts,and a Springfield.
These two are going to stay with me.
9mm and .40

They both run trouble free,are well built and on a good day,even can make me look like I can shoot.

My 9mm,five shot group at 20 yds.,two hand hold.
Not bad for an old guy like me.

Not sure what a Smitn & Wesson is but I think that Springfield Armory is an obvious choice for a 1911. So had to vote "other". Prediction: the "other" will win this one!

I just ordered a Dan Wesson PM7, my first 1911. Until it arrive, I only have a paper model.
 
I have only have one it is the SW1911 made by Smith and Wesson was looking at Para Ordinance originallyy as they are Canadian but opted for the SW1911
 
For a regular everyday shooting normal priced 1911, I love the Kimber TLE II. For a big name "custom" hands down the tightest and most accurate 1911 I have ever shot is the Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special. I have seen several guns from all the big name builders, but there is just something about Les Baer that is that much more.
