A thread about shooting 556 after putting couple hundred rounds of 22 through the AR got me thinking.
Currently I don't drop lead/carbon dissolver into the gas tube, I just fire off a few rounds of 223 to "clean" it out. But is that sufficient?

If I were to say spray some gun oil or solvent or CLP down the gas tube and let it drip down, do I have to worry about over pressure? Or do I need to drip dry and throw a pipe cleaner in there first?

I really wouldn't bother mucking around with putting juice in the gas tube. If you are so inclined to, watch out for debris getting blown back around the charging handle. It will sort of feel like shooting with a suppressor, but just louder.
