Webley-Fosberry?

I would love to try one. There appears to about 30 or so in Canada (there is a limited online copy of the Canadain gun registry)

It is legal to own and shoot if you have one.

Many years ago, down in the States, I owned one, but never shot it. They're very expensive, very collectable, and I was afraid of busting something that I couldn't replace. There is a modern variation (rather an odd gun, actually) made in Italy, called the Mateba, which is also an "automatic" revolver. The Mateba shoots very softly with little felt recoil because all that recoiling mass soaks up the recoil impulse, and it's pretty accurate. The W-Fs were made in a few different calibres, but the Mateba is found only in .38/.357 and .44 Mag.
 
Some years back my buddy had one in 38, bright blue commercial model. He ended up trading it for a 8 3/8" S&W model 27. 'Seemed' like a good deal at the time but he's expressed more than just a little regret ever since.

If the .455 is fetching AT LEAST $5000 the .38 is even rarer!

Now a funny story about that. A friend bought one on .455 and took it out to the range to try out without giving it a good cleaning first. there was some dried grease in the disconnector and it went FULL AUTO on him!:runaway:
the gun was pointing straight up by the last round.

If anyonw ever saw the rather forgettable Science Fiction film "Zardoz' with Sean Connery, he and his mates were using fosberrys.

Does that mean they're for grandfathered shooters only?
 
They're actually too rare and expensive to be shooting. There was a .445 chambered Webley-Fosberry, on auctionarms, last Fall, that had a $7,995US starting bid.

How much are second-hand H&K P7s these days? Another little favourite of mine (was perusing the thread(s) about those on here earlier). Actually, I can see from the (very slow loading) Actionarms site that they vary from hundreds to thousands.

I know that importing guns from the States into Canada isn't as easy as it once was. Can you get a firearm dealer to do it for you? I mean, if you win such an auction as above.

"...Can you get a..." Questar, one of this site's sponsors, does it. $295Cdn for the first gun.
"...H&K P7s..." Don't know what a used one runs, but a new P7 M8 runs around $2,175.00. $97.95 for a mag.
