The TAVOR

Shooting the Tavor

Was out at the Range today, fired about 100 rounds. Didn't really do any accuracy work to speak of, just a test fire offhand at 25 and 50m. No photos but first impressions:

Functioned 100%.
Meprolight sight was roughly zeroed out of the box.

Safety easily manipulated without shifting your grip.
Bolt hold open/release is behind the mag well and is awkward to lock open if you are not using an empty magazine, bolt release is OK.

Meprolight sight was bright if you are also out in the light, also good for low light, but if you are in a dim or dark area shooting into a bright area, the orange dot fades out against a light color background or target and is hard to see.

Folding front sight has a tritium post which is handy and is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Rear folding aperature is a bit small for my taste but the meprolight sight body can serve as a large rear ghost-ring just as easy.

Orange dot and back-up sights are co-witnessed.

Trigger a little mushy in the uptake but the release was suitable crisp. Not a target trigger obviously.

Overall I am very happy with it. Can't wait to get out again and do some distance work!

Hmm... hoping I get mine before the TR course in Grand Prairie... was hoping to have it for a back up to my AR... Haven't received any word yet..

i am sorry but there gonna be tactical rifle course soon?

i would like to take course but i dont know when and who gonna be running it anyone with info?
thank you guys :) also i have not got it yet where is my ###y ?

Does anyoe know when the left handed guns will be in or the conversion kit to left handed operation ??

The only guy who knows for sure is CanAm ... my impression was that it would be some time after this first lot was done and when some of the other options arrive (a couple of months?). Send him a PM if you want to know for sure ... that also gives him some idea what the demand is.

Got IT! Now I have no excuse not to find 1-200 meters of open space in front of me somewhere.
I will have to find a range next week to take a few of my safe queens out.

I will post some pics tonight.

Ohh HAPPPY DAY!

PS: Just how are you supposed to tie the sling up?
I am afraid I am new to this, and this isn't exactly a regular rifle. I tied it through the stock hole, and in front, the obvious swivel. This good enough?

My critiques so far after dry firing it a few.....
Mushy uptake on the trigger. To be expected from a bull pup ( hey aren't these illegal?) But crisp release when you get there. Just a matter of getting used to almost no uptake.
The sight is weak when ranging into sunlight in the shade, but hey, no batteries ever. Good enough into the sun from the sun. You can always deploy the sights.
The iron (hahah) sights are more than adequate. I like the tritium front.
Overall, the fit, and finish is great. I might need to deburr some of the plastic, but I am a picky bugger.

Worth $3k? Up to the individual. I welcome the opportunity to own one of the first of these into Canada, and how can you place a price on 10 shot unrestricted?

It's FREEDOM baby! Of a flavour they don't sell in the free states! Plus it looks like something from Star Wars ( TM).
