I am relatively new to choke tubes, most of my shotguns are old school fixed chokes. Has anyone tried any sort of coating on their tubes to help cut down on plastic residue? I have tried silicone spray and it seems to help a bit. Anyone else have any other ideas?

Acetone - just keep it away from the rest of your gun, especially any painted or plastic parts.

Actually I was looking for "preventative medicine" :) I find enviro wash works better than acetone as a cleaner, is easier to use and less toxic.

I use Breakfree CLP on my guns but mainly because I find surfaces it is coated with make powder fowling easier to deal with, not because of plastic buildup. I'm going to keep experimenting with it, though I find forcing cones are more of a problem spot and much more difficult to clean than choke tubes.

Have you also found that different shotshell makes seem to leave differing amounts of plastic? I guess that makes sense since they use different styles of plastic wads and powder. Anyone here have a best in their experience?
