2.5-10X24 NXS Nightforce

I'm looking at putting a couple of these on my LR capable hunting rifles.

Anyone ever try one or even look one over?

There are a few guys at LRhunting that claim the little NXS scopes are brighter than a 40mm Leupold.

I recently purchased a Nightforce NXS 12-42, Npr-R1 from Peter Dobson.
The optics look great, and it is a frequently used optic for LR shooting tasks.

If one goes to the Nightforce website you posted, there are quite a few positive testimonials.

If by LR you mean out to 1000y, I'd get a higher zoom version of the Nightforce NXS series, like the 5.5-22X50

2.5 x 10 Nightforce

Hi X-ray: I had one and thought it was a great scope. However, I sold it for 2 reasons. 1) it is a lot heavier than the Leupold that replaced it. 17oz vs 11oz. and 2) the reticle designs are not as easy to use as the Leupold LR reticle with the 2 dots that I replaced it with.

With the Leupold I can easily hit 3 separate 5 gal bullets placed at 400, 500, and 600 yards, 1 after the other with 3 shots (1 each). This Leupold LR reticle doesn't need any calculations like the Nightforce, just put the dots and bottom reticle point on the middle of the bucket and fire.

I have been thinking though to e-mail Nightforce and see if they can install a reticle like the Leupold LR into the 2.5 x 10.

If they could, I could live with the weight on the more powerful rifles as I really like the NF scope.

The FC2 reticle is large .dot. 10 MOA but for game it is both fast and easy to use
I simply set they top at 100 and leaves the bottom at 250 yds.

I'd rather have a bigger objective for long shots at high power in less than ideal light. An NXS 3.5-15x or 5.5-25x would be my choice.
