Are new Beretta 92FS's any good because they have plastic?

I read on Wikipedia that they are incorporating polymer parts inside the 92FS. It's a ###y gun but do the polymer parts wear out faster than traditional metal parts? Is it a step down in terms of quality?

I won't worry about polymar, infact if the 92Fs's flame was made by polymar, I should have one inside my safe already but I am going to get one anyway.

I replaced the plastic trigger and guide rod on mine. But I did it because I wanted Inox once; so other blackmetal parts had to go as well...

I think most people prefer all metal 92's, but there is absolutelly nothing's wrong with the current parts. btw I too wish they made a polymer framed 92

Beretta makes the 92Fs and the 90-Two the way they were originally designed.

This is not new for Beretta. They started using plastic parts a few years ago. I would prefer the metal ones in the 9X series guns. Just a personal preference.

Try using a magnet on the "plastic" parts, you will find most of them have metal on inside / polymer coated metal (trigger, slide release, take down lever, right side of safety/decocker...).

Plastic guide rods have the advantage that are self lubricating, flexible/function when bend, absorb some of the recoil.

Because it would be an interesting gun IMO. And I don't see why Beretta couldn't make one (althought it would probably need a metal subframe like Steyr M and Sig P250 pistols have)

Now, what I woud really like is a Beretta 1911; 92 slide on a 1911 frame...

The now-discontinued Vertec model is probably as close to this concept as we'll ever see from Beretta.

why?

92F is a very big gun base on Baretta beef up the flame. If the flame is made by polymar, the gun itself and the grip can be way more slim and more comfort to handle. I believe polymar flame with steel insert will out last aluminum. And of course cheaper to make and cheaper to buy?
