CZ 75 40 lead reloads leading barrel not bad,
just enough to be a pain when cleaning:mad:

how many people having this problem

current load 170 g hard cast heat treated

using winchester powder 231 /ST & SF from 165 to 180 pf in several loads

what can i do to fix it ??:D

not much. you should see my 9mm cz75 barrel after a day of shooting my reloads..
Let is soak in hoppes and apply elbow grease.
all part of the fun.
 
One of the biggest reasons, i mainly use plated bullets. Lead is too dirty and a pain if you shoot a lot. Try the Frontier bullets from Marstar. They shoot well, do not lead your barrel and are not that much more than buying cast bullets.
 
Velocity in excess of 1000 fps will lead with all but the hardest cast bullets. If you intend to exceed 1000 fps you should switch to plated or jacketed.
 
I shoot lead bullets to velocities of over 2500fps and usually without leading, hard cast bullets and gaschecks help but there may be other reasons for the leading. Some Euro guns show a lot of leading due to diff. types of rifling, and or roughness in the bore. The biggest culprit remains the bullet fit...i will submit to you that a) hard bullet + b)possibly undersized + c)bevel based = leaded bore.
I believe that the internal barrel dimensions on some Euro. guns cause reloaders to use the wrong size bullet. One of the most accurate"big bore" bullets I use is a plain based, med. hard, hollow point bullet pushed to 2000 or so fps with out excessive leading of the barrel.

Ah, that's good to know. A few different people have told me cast bullets are OK "as long as you keep your speeds down", but I was never able to get any specific limit.

I've been throwin' .40s at roughly 1020 fps, I'll reduce my load a bit next batch.
 
I have shot 1000's of 125gr IPSC major loads with home made cast bullets in 9mm/9x21. They will lead up yes, but a good alloy mixture, proper sizing and lube makes a big difference as well. I am sure some powders heat the bullet a little more as well which could contribute to excess fouling. As far as .40, I would think a hard bullet shouldn't lead up too bad, have you measured the bullets to see what they are sized to? I know a guy one time who cursed his gun for fouling up bad, and it turned out he was shooting as cast bullets with LEE tumble lube. He tried sizing them, and problems went away. I am assuming even the new CZ's are button rifled?
 
Have people here had good experience with the plated bullets? I found that the lead bullets I was shooting shot poorly, bad grouping, low and left. I have been using Remington jacketed, but the plated are cheaper, except you have to buy 500 at a time. That's a lot if they don't work as well as jacketed.
 
Try a slower powder. I have found that using slower powders reduces leading. Bullet size is also very important. As well, most commercial cast bullets use a hard lube that is great for shipping, but doesn't work well as lube. I am using bullets cast from straight wheel weights, sized to .357 (for a 9mm) with Lar's carnauba red lube from a stock Glock 19 with very little leading.

Interesting - I know that when I had a CZ (early, early military production one) the old guy at Oma would go and get me "the right ammunition" for my CZ. I asked him about it and he said it was because the barrel was a different dimension. Never had an issue with leading and I know that the ammo was over 1100 fps.
