I'm looking to buy a revolver for my wife. What would you guys recommend and also, where might I purchase it? She is 5'5" and around 115 lbs I think, like I'm going to ask her :)

Oh, and I'd like one that I can put a light on as well (if that's possible).

If you want a revolver with a light rail you might wana take a look at the Swith & Wesson Model 327 M&P R8 - 8 Shot, .357 Magnum Revolver.

Dig around in some websites and see what is available for a light.
One thing to consider...How big are your wife's hands?

Sorry...this is too good to pass up.
"I got a revolver for my wife; my friends thought that was a good trade."
:)

Normal size for her hight and weight. They don't appear to be larger than normal nor smaller.

S&W does make a .357mag revolver with a rail (which kinda makes me chuckle) not sure what model is it though?

EDIT: 4000th post Whoa.....!

"...I'm looking to buy a revolver for my wife for home defense..." Don't mention that to the CFC or the CFO. You won't get it. Home or self defence is not a valid reason to own a restricted firearm.
Plus your wife will have to have an RPAL(If you don't have one, you won't be able to buy any restricted firearm either). In any case, any revolver you buy will have to be locked up, one way or another.

Hello P12,

I assume you are referring to the Model 327 TRR8 with the 5" barrel? I just checked it out. It looks very nice. Do you think the large frame would be ok in her hands?

That's the 327 TRR8.........the grip will probably fit her hands but it's a pretty big gun. I guess it's a good that it's made of Scandium.

To see if it fits try finding a dealer that carries S&W revolvers and she can handel a few of them to see how they feel in her hand. If that's to big, you can always buy a smaller revolver and have a gunsmith attach a rail to the bottom of the barrel.

Forget the light. Buy a S&W Model 64 in 38 Special with a 4" barrel. Buy a set of Hogue Monogrips to replace the factory wood and you can both live happily ever after......

Why don't you let her pick? Take her to a range that rents guns (if you have one nearby) and she can make the choice.

I thought the barrel had to be 4.25 inches to be legal here in Canada? Yet I see a revolver with a 4" barrel for sale at wholesale sports and now you are recommending one also.

What is the minimum barrel length allowed?

At least take her to the gun store, then. Make sure she has input in the decision.

Why a revolver?

We don't have a decent gun store around here and I want to get a revolver because they are so easy to learn how to shoot one.

I think I've found just the revolver. A S&W Model 60 with a 5" barrel. It has a small frame so it should fit the bill.

If you do not have "12(6) Handgun" on your PAL you are not grandfathered for prohibited handguns with barrels less than 106 mm or 4.1732283465 inches.

It can't be 105mm or less, so more than 105mm/~4.13" makes it restricted.
