I officially retired my 444 Marlin today and bought a new one.

Pistol grip style buttstock, blued 22" barrel.

Karl at KS Arms is going to cut the barrel down for me to 18 3/4" and dovetail the sight back on.

Im headed to the Yukon this September to guide moose for Jim Shockey. I figured if I better "class up" a bit and get a new rifle.

Bought a case of those Leverevolutions in 265g. I think I will stick to the open sights tho, might do some filing on the rear sight to open it up a bit. I don't expect to do any shooting, but it was time I got a new "guide" rifle. Ive been selling a lot of my stuff over the past 3 yrs and it was time to buy something too.

Hey congrats on the new rig, and the Yukon trip. Is that going to be a yearly thing?? Maybe we'll see you on WildTv.:D

They should do a run of Black Stainless 444's

a good firearm is a good friend. I understand, when you have to replace a gun, a twin of the original is easy to get comfortable with.

the gun is just a run of the mill 444. I dont like the 22" barrels tho, but I couldnt find one with a short barrel and the pistol grip style buttstock.

I have a hard time working the lever on the straight stock models. there was a tempting 4570, but the straight stock I cant do.

Karl was pretty nice to offer to get it done for me next week tho.....

Im gonna be gone to the Yukon from Sep 3-29. I have two one-on-one hunts to do in a new area. Boats and boots.

As for WILD TV, there is no doubt in my mind that if there was filming going on, I'd be the "face on the cutting room floor"..........lol

Beautiful country, Randy. I was up there last year in September for moose. I will send you an e-mail with some info that may be of interest to you.

I'd rather have a GUIDE with a whole lotta miles on HIM. Tried and true, dependable............

............since most guns go bang when you pull the trigger.

Randy, please get a hockey bag big enough to carry all your gear and a Noel in there too. What a stellar adventure that will be.

When you find a 45-70 you want a pistol grip on just let me know. Davey won't miss the stock off his at all. lol We'll swap it out for you.
