Need some help here, I want to get into trapping moose this summer. Since I killed off all the wolves in this area, moose numbers are getting too high and there is moose scat everywhere GROSS:(

I'mnot really sure how to get started???? Should I bait traps, if so what with? What are the best locations to set up traps? How often should I check them? The tv isn't great in the summer, so I should be able to get out at least twice a week.

Any advice from people who have done this would be appreciated.

My equipment is ready to go, I hope it isn't too light for the job.

Not sure I would go with them steal snap traps you got yourself there. I would tend to think a snare wire would do a better trick. That way, you could target the smaller moose, and those without antlers, you know the ones. This way, without the females there would be less moose the crap all over the place next year.

But then again, them there moose traps you got, they look pretty skookum, made in China and all. They just might do the trick.

Usually french translations are a poorly done, but here, both french and english are total waste of ink and time.

Fabtique en China??? - what language is this? maybe some sort of tribal dialect...

And;
Trappes de SOORIS jetables?? new animal to me... and what is jetable? the SOORIS or the trappes? hard to say...

Well, who knows...

Jetable is french for disposable or throw away, the rest of the packaging is so misspelled I'm surprised it was allowed to be imported at all ..

I have had my moose trapper license for years. I had to give up the sport tho. I was using decoys and they just got too heavy to carry around........

I find that snaring them is best. That 50" loop and camlock system is near foolproof.........but one year I caught a Suzuki Sidekick (had a helluva time skinning it tho).........good to eat but kinda high in iron.

I just got back from your neck of the woods and you will be glad to hear I dropped off 18 wolves in the bush just a bit NW of your place. Happy shooting. I raised them all from pups, so if they run from you, just whistle and they will stop.

you then line the rim of the hole with canadian maple beans, when the moose starts to eat the beans, YOU KICK HIM IN THE "HOLE"

Actually you line the hole with ashes,then when he stops to sniff the ashes,you kick him in the ASH HOLE..
