338 lapua and 338 edge whats the difference

The Edge is the .300 Ultra necked up to .338. This gives a little more powder capacity, and probably more importantly availability of some high quality brass. Some have called it the "Poorman's Lapua".It can be put together on a Remington Ultra Mag action. If you want to shoot the 300 grain bullets you may end up with a singleshot. The Edge was/is Shawn Carlock's baby.
I might be wrong but I think the Lapua is based on the Rigby case. Performance is in the same ball-park. Brass, actions and rifles are all spendy, but playing at long-range isn't a bargain driven pursuit.
