r pal question

:D I just got a call from the CFC. They had a few questions & made a point about asking me about the one "yes" answer I put down (I get the winter blues, so I put yes for the depression question). I was nice & clear & made a point of telling the gal that I've never even been tempted to use a firearm of any kind to hurt myself, so she seemed quite relieved at that.

I figure better to be honest with em from the get go. Can't be denied for lying if ya don't lie & all that. Logic, scary eh.

HOPEFULLY I'll get the RPAL soon now.

Good for you. 100% Honesty is the only way to go.

You'll probably have it by the last week in May then.
I finally got mine, but now I'm having trouble picking a pistol to buy... and I kinda want an AR too... man it sucks being on a budget.

29th day is May 30 and then however long the mail takes so hoping for the first week in April. Do you know if they usually call your spouse? She wasn't called (we live in the same house) but I'm kinda worried because I had a call block on my phone that doesn't accept Private Calls and thats they way they come through because it's the RCMP. I took the block off, hope it's not too late. I'm hoping they don't mail out a questionaire or something like I hear they do with your references if they don't call back the same day. I don't recall people saying on here if they call your partner. She signed my application and it said on there that they have to call if they don't sign.I think they are more likely to call if it's an X-spouse.

they didn't call my wife for my PAL or RPAL, so don't panic, man. I don't think they would bother unless there was something fishy on the app, or it's an ex wife. Be sure to check with your references to make sure they return calls from the CFC. I'm sure everything will go fine, but yeah 30 to 40 days is probably realistic. IF you're really concerned about something, they really don't mind if you give them a call just to make yourself more available, check the status, etc.

I hope that's the case. Both my references were contacted so that part is good.

I have a question about you checkmarking yes for depression, I am in the situation that I believe that I have depression but it only affects me in the way that I get really tired from time to time and then I just go to bed and sleep, now I asked my old doctor to give me something for it but it didn't help and that doctor never diagnosed me with anything and just gave me meds because I asked for it as a test but the doctor I have now says that I do not have any depression at all so the question is what the heck do I checkmark on the application and not make them confused as hell and also have them think about refusing me the licence because I am in no way suicidal just get tired a lot.

And now back to the regular programming. =oP

i had the same problem 7 years ago, doctor put me on antidepressants, turned out the pills caused suicidal thoughts, tried to commit suicide, stopped taking the pills, found out i didnt have depression just low iron.
my main concern is that my ex charged me with assault, the charge was withdrawn 4 1/2 years ago. i'll be pissed if they deny my licence when i was completely innocent. anyone know how long it takes if you check yes? i've been waiting about 34 days so far.

Well I am not a lawyer but I would think that the only thing that counts would be any conviction and if a person ever gets convicted then normally it should be automatically expunged 3-4 yrs after the fact but seeing as the charge was withdrawn I doubt you will have anything to worry about.

I have heard that standard time for processing is 45 days so you might only have a few more days to wait but I guess it depends on how many people are applying and how many people are working at the office etc etc etc but don't worry and I think you can check your process on the CFC website so if you have the possibility to do that then it would be a good idea but don't do it like me because I would check it every day or several times a day going crazy that it is taking so slow. =oP

Good luck and have a great weekend.

You can buy them and most dealers will hold them until you get your licence.

Called the CFC today (39th day) and was told my application was still with my province. Now I'm wondering if I should give the Alberta CFO a call to find out what the delay is. My friends was issued 12 days ago and we sent them in together.

Anyone know why the provincial CFO phone number is the same as the CFC?

To my knowledge I believe that RCMP is the CFO in question for Alberta as Sûrete du Quebec is the CFO for Quebec, but I think that they have a waiting time of minimum 45 days but it is like russian roulette, you never know if you are gonna win and get it ahead of time or get your brains shot out and wait forever.

Give it a about a week and then call them and find out what the holdup is but have you gone to the CFC website because you can check your application process easier there.

Good luck.
