I have been looking for a new scope for my bsa .22 and want to find something with a side adjustable objective. I really like the setup of the tactical pine ridge scopes but I don't think I will be buying one as the general consensus is they are crap. Does anyone know of another scope that would be comparable.

while looking through the sir catalogue, i see that some of the nikon buckmasters have a side focus. theyre priced around 400-500 bucks though.

Do a search. There are several good discussions. I have no personal experience with them. I only suggest he look into them because the scope he mentioned was also a cheap side parallax adjust scope was looking for something comparable. The Nikon and Leupolds are a lot more money and are "real" optics. But from the discussions on the clones, its sounds like they are fun and functional.

Ran the search and it sounds like what I am after, the only thing I am a little unclear on is the fact that I keep hearing about focus at different yardages, this is still parallax adjustment correct? That and they are a 30mm tube

I have several adjustable objective scopes, and the image is out of focus when parallax is not set reasonably close. I'm not saying they coincide exactly, but when you have parallax adjusted out, the focus will be good, and vice versa. But I wouldn't use focus alone to convince me parallax is correctly adjusted for at that yardage. You still want to move your head around and look to see if the reticle moves on the target, assuming you are target shooting off a rest. Otherwise, you are probably darn close.

I understand that and reading my last question again it doesn't really ask what I wanted and actually sounds pretty dumb. I just wanted to be sure that the side knob controls the actual objective, not the focus.

Check out the Tactical Bushnell, affordable, solid, very functional , resettable target knobs , plenty of adjustment and life time warrenty.
I've got on one my AR, was on a .220 swift.

Which model do you mean. I see one in a 4200 series it is a 6-24x50 which is a little bit of overkill for my purposes right now. was there another model you are refering to?

The side knob is a parallax adjustment and has the same function as an adjustable objective (AO). On all AO scopes and some side parallax adjustments there is a referance indicator in yards. This is just for quick reference but to properly adjust for parallax, you look through the optic and turn this adjustment to get the sharpest image and by doing this you set the parallax error to zero (or there abouts). A way of checking this setting is to bob your head up and down and side to side slightly and see if the image moves against your reticle and if it doesn't then you have set this correctly. Phil.

i see that some simmons prohunter scopes have side focus and they seem to be pretty well priced at around 175-180 bucks for the cheapest side focus model. maybe something to look at?
