You could always look for an older style .22 revolver as well.
H&R Sportsman 999 are always fun. 9-shot schofield style and HKS makes speedloaders for them. Usually around $150-$250 if you can find them.

If you can live with a beautifully blued, high quality double action, I'd recommend a SW 17 with a 6" barrel. Super accurate, great quality, great triggers both double and single action and only $300-$350 in VG condition.

This particular revolver is the 'cat's meow'. I own a newer 6-shot version and have shot the 10-shot version. Out of box triggers aren't too shabby and they're reliable and accurate. I'd look for a used one as they're a tad on the pricey side new (learned from experience new: 800+, used: 500+ ). Also, if you're going to buy a new one make sure you get to physically inspect it first. There has been some rumblings on various forums about recent 617's regarding their fit and finish. I ordered mine through a dealer back East and was not impressed with the fit and finish of the one I received--still shoots well and I guess that's what's important but still....
As mentioned earlier a Model 17 or a converted to a 6" barrel Model 18 would also be a good bet. YMMV.........
+1 Paid $380 for mine used, stainless, with the WMR cylinder included. I really like it, good way to spend an afternoon for less than $20 (as long as you don't use too much WMRs)
