Is it possible to convert a carl gustav 6.5 swedish to 3006. What kind of work would be involved? What would the approximate cost be for such a venture?

You don't mention what sort of CG, but in general, you would need a new barrel, and the magazine length might need to be adjusted. Cost to supply, install and finish the barrel, plus gunsmithing work on the action and stock would be several hundred dollars. Probably would be in the category of not being worth the investment in time and money.

1900 push feed action?

CG and Husqvarna made 30.06 rifles in that action and Husqvarna the 1600 (controlled feed) action as well. Trade-Ex has a bunch - probably cheaper to just buy one for around $500.

Unless you covet this rifle, and plan to be buried with it - just buy one. A LOT CHEAPER than what you want to do.

If you must have a CG in 30-06 look on Trade Ex's site for a Stiga or Falun M96 Sporter. Some claim the M96 is marginal though in 30-06.

I would not get a small ring Mauser action for .30-06, except for the 1640 style action which is a more modern hybrid M98/small ring action. Here's my 1640 from Trade-Ex (6.5x55) They have a boat load in .30-06 at the moment.

Why?

With the exception of very large bears, what do you need a .30-06 for in Canada that you can't harvest with a 6.5x55?

You dont say where you are from, or what you are hunting.

I have shot very large animals with a 6.5x55.

And really, how many of us hunt large bears ?
