Something durable. Something frugal. Something that a fellow with no 12.x designations can get. Hopefully with a bit of knock-down.

You mean you want a "revolver". Do you have a specific question or are you just making a statement?

The title reads simply ...revolVA. Not too much to ask for, is it?
The question mark at the end espouses a sense of bewilderment.

What you ask for is somewhat of a paradox. I order to be frugal (or, as I understand it, cheap) a revolver has to be chambered in either .38 Special or .357 Magnum (which also uses .38 Special). This enables you to use the cheapest available revolver ammuniton that can be easily obtained. However, if it is great power that you desire, then the .357mag may not be enough for you. Larger calibers cost more to shoot, and this coupled with recoil may dissuade you from shooting much. If by frugal you mean 'cheap to pruchase' either buy used or buy Ruger, or both.

In addition to that, do you prefer a single-action model or double action?

Finally, there is one more point. The following are acceptable terms for a revolver: wheelgun, sixgun, roundgun or hogleg. Anything else is punish by a beating with a sack or doorknobs

Fire off a few rounds from a S&W 500, should fix the problem with your vulva right up. When you consider ammo is only about 1/750th the price of the gun for each shot, it's downright economical.
