IPSCBC Qualifier #10: Swim the river, fight the bear

Arrrghghghg

Hey where's the video where i popped my rib out. I had a hoot even though i forgot to eat or drink or use the sites on the gun.Gotta question the copper tunnel though as rules states you cant nock off the slates with any body parts but nothing about stumbling into the end side wall and then they fall on you. Hmmmm video dont lie but i want to see the other angle if you have it. Looking forward to next year and i loved the wall, apperently didnt really affect my time. Go Team Fang. Countin down to Carls match, gotta redeem myself.

my pics of you end just as you are leaving the tunnel, prior to any sticks falling or you stumbling into anything. However the next set of pics of a certain "height limited" shooter you know, shows him drawing through the tunnel, which is supposed to be a DQ. ooooppppppssssss. oh well shat happens!.
when did you pop out the rib?
I only just figured out yesterday (after mailing my entry fee and such on Monday) that I can't make Carl's match as that's the Sniper Match weekend and I've been signed up for that for ages. piss me off. I thought it was the next weekend, and that I'd booked those days off. Turns out I booked the 18-21 off for the sniper match. arrrrgggg

Sorry but we are not poking fun at you but "The lemming King".Chang must have been feelin kind all day or sleepin. We have 2 camera angles to view it at but looking at your video i would have to say you drew the gun as you stood up and nocked the slat off( should have been a DQ) or its a really bad camera angle. Either way it was a fun stage.

Kelly:welcome:

Well, I had a great time! Congrats to Cam and Rob on their first match!

It was too bad about both walls. (one was on a stage that had to be thrown out, the other was on a stage that could be gamed so that the wall position wasn't necessary).

It would have been fun to scale the wall, but it would have added about 4 seconds to the stage time to do, plus I think my ankle would have given out if I tried to jump back down. :p
After watching quite a few shooters "game it" I noticed that several shot the same target twice or forgot what targets they were shooting from between the walls. I'm here for a good time and thought it would be more fun to shoot the stage as designed and climbed the wall. I left the wall for last and don't think it really added to my time.

I was working stats when stage 7 was thrown out. Since I'd won the stage, I was wondering how that would have affected overall results. Throwing out the stage that I won actually caused other people's percentages to drop.
Where can we find the scores for Stage 7? They aren't on the web site with the others.

I also liked the "At the Bank" stage. That was fun! Short but fun and fit well in that small range at Poco. Nice to see the not so politically correct Metric targets.

On a bad note... :p Can we ban that ICS CLC-57 Classifier stage from BC? It seems to be at every match that has ICS stages and it is a complete waste of a range/stage and ammo!!

And to end on a good note... I really like the idea of not having to pay $5 for ICS submission unless the shooter wants to AND pays on the day of the match. Great idea! :D

actually we'd picked CLC57 long before any other match copy was out, and submitted our match with it that way too. Then not long after we see match copy after match copy with it. a few new shooters asked us if it was a mandatory stage for IPSC BC. sometimes we added fuel to the fire and said yes, other times we explained what happened.
you will see more Metric targets next year, many more. due to the number of people that go down and shoot in the USA during the year it only makes sense to have some of those targets in a match up here.
scores for stage 7 likely won't be available, not everyone shot that stage, so scores would be meaningless.

Well, I figured it would cost me about 4 seconds in Open Division, but I'm more vertically challenged and had a bad ankle. It probably wouldn't have survived a jump down from the wall.

I supposed I could dig them up, but only half the competitors have score for it, and it wouldn't be included in the match stats.

I've started calling it "the IPSCBC Stage". I hate it, too. On the plus side, every time I shoot it, my time improves by about a second. :D

As for the not paying until the match day...as far as I know, nobody paid the $5 at the match; at least, I haven't been asked to submit ICS scores for anybody yet. If nobody is going to submit their ICS scores, then why bother putting in an ICS stage? There are other, more interesting ways to make use of the range.

The way ICS was implemented was an attempt by the board to have people get ICS classified for major matches, like the Canadian Nationals. When 80% of BC shooters are Unclassified, it means none of them are really eligible for trophies. Maybe not a big deal to me, but some others want to be able to win trophies.

Local level I matches haven't had much success in putting on Classifier stages, so it has been put to the clubs putting on Qualifier (Level II) matches.

Sorry for the hijack, but it seemed an appropriate thing to do at the time...:runaway:

yeah we screwed up the whole ICS thing with the match fee. The ICS fee was supposed to be included in the match fee, not a "pay if you want to" thing. We may throw one ICS stage in next year, but might not. There are some neat ICS stages, and it does help with the whole classification thing (which I don't care about either). and it takes a bit of work off of MD's in that they don't have to come up with another stage.

Well Open Division is... umm... special. ;) Every millisecond counts when you are using a ray gun! But for the regular folk I am not so sure. And when the wall was left for last you don't need to worry so much about the jump down.

I always find it interesting though how people always want to "show clear" at exactly the last place they shot at. Not many wanted to climb down, loaded or not, and show clear and holster.

I supposed I could dig them up, but only half the competitors have score for it, and it wouldn't be included in the match stats.
Of course, I was only interested in seeing how I did compared to others even if it is only a ballpark figure as I normally don't shoot in Production.

I understand that there is a reason for the ICS stages but paying $5 at every match when you don't care adds up. And right now any way, I don't care to pay it when I shoot in a division other than Standard. ICS seems to be a good way for the author/IPSC to make some extra money. A few changes to the IPSC scoring computer program could have it all automated and no ICS fee would be required.

oh god don't bring up changing the scoring program, the IPSC killer bees will be dispatched to your locale!

I re-uploaded stats to now include Stage 7 in the stage results. It does not affect the overall results since the stage was pulled, and it's only for interest's sake.
