So I finally bought an AR! :dancingbanana:
It has an A3 flattop, and a standard front sight.
Now here is a problem, I need a rear sight...

I will eventually go optical with it as the budget allows, but for now I would like to put a carry handle type rear sight on it.

What would be ideal is the Detachable tactical carry handle from Rock river arms, but they seem to be permanently sold out at questar...

Does someone make an equivalent to it?

Is there something better out there that a "noob" wouldn't have discovered yet?

Check again with Questar they do have tactical carry handles in now if that is what you want, plus there were various other back up sites available.

The flip up stay out of the way unless you need them then pop up.

The advantages are they stay low and out of the way if you're not using them and they allow most of the rail to be free for other things like a red dot sight or an optic.

Your carry handle won't allow (propperly) you to mount other things on the rifle while it's on.

I have and older bushnell Trophy red dot sight. It is in the 30mm rings that it came with.
If I simply mount that on the flat top, all I will be able to se through that is the middle back of the rear sight right... Or do I need some sort of riser?

carry handle sight

If you have EE access there are some there or order a detachable backup sight from s&j hardware .I use a ARMS#5 MOUNT and a tasco pd-p5 reddot and a flipup backsite.you could also use see thru high rings and a backup sight my camera`s down so can`t post pic .There are alot of differant combinations pick one that suits your budget.

goodluck

I tried to use an optic and my eye kept trying to focus on the front sight.
I'm sure you can get used to it but if I did it again I would get flip up rear and front sights.
Or, as I did, just use iron sights for the kind of shooting I do.
