There's some truth to that. I can't remember the show but they coated both sides of a concrete block wall and placed a bomb on the one side. The Rhino liner prevented the walls from blowing out and collapsing, basically kept everything stuck together.

I would absolutely love to see some twit try to pull the same stunt with an over-loaded rifle against his cheek, Rhino liner my eye...he would need balls like water melons and a bad case of the stupids.

Rugers are my Standard for my Bolt actions, although I do have a 30-06 in a Savage 110, and beleive me, I have shot some stupid hot loads, rubber mallet to open the bolt if that says anything. I don't do that anymore. I wouldn't even blink for a Stevens at the right price, but in bolts Rugers come 1st with me. Les

The pieces I see show me the load was probably a very fast pistol powder. If a case head separates, the pressure flows into the large area in front of the lugs and out the holes. If the case head separation is caused intentionally with fast pistol powder, the pressure spike is so fast very little gas gets time to flow out the ports dropping pressure. No action will be unharmed if this is done, none. Since the open area in front of the lugs is large, [about .46" by 1.02" on a Stevens], no action can handle that much pressure if applied too fast. The amout of steel surrounding a barrel of almost every action made is less than 1/8" of an inch thick and has about a 1" inside diameter, that's alot of surface area compared to the chamber and it would need to be extremely thick to handle normal chamber pressures. If you remember the Tikkas and Sakos exploding, you might remember the banana peel effect that also tore apart the actions. It would take a whack of strength to stop such a peel, much much more than any normal action has. This was without a doubt intentional and would not happen otherwise, just like any other common action.
I saw the same thing happen to a T/C encore on Guns and Ammo TV so I guess we should ban that rifle too??? give your head a shake guy's you mix your powders up or start sticking pistol powder in a rifle round s#%t's gonna happen.
