CDP Atts

Easy

"I anticipate American IDPA memberships and qualifications are also accepted."

IDPA is an international organization with HQ in the US. Our membership cards are the same all over and nowhere does it say "American IDPA".

That said I doubt Mr Burke is about to allow IDPA members to shoot in his first CDP Sanctioned match, which is as it should be . If you are not a member of CDP then it would be quite right to excluding non members.

Well I was under the impression from the original invite this was a CDP Santioned event and not sanctioned by CSSA. If it is indeed sanctioned by CSSA then you have a valid concern. I left CSSA when all this got going a couple of years ago for this very reason. I rather suspect this event is a CDP sanctioned event and IDPA members who are members of CSSA and not members of CDP are excluded. Best person to ask is Mr. Burke. It is afterall the first CDP Sanctioned event according to the invite that was posted.

Ok now I am confused.

The rules indicate that it is open to CSSA members with holster qualification.

I would trust (hope) that nobody would be so petty as to insist that you can ONLY be a CDP member to the exclusion of IDPA. I mean if they allow IPSC.....would it not follow that all holster type programs would qualify?

I think the problem would lie in the fact that there is not a "holster course" for IDPA.......Thus CSSA members who only shoot IDPA would be excluded as per the invitation posted in the other thread.

That being said , as this is a CDP sanctioned event I would think ( perhaps I am wrong ) you would have to be a member of CDP to shoot. Just as you would have to be a member of IDPA to shoot in a Sanctioned IDPA shoot

While IDPA does not have a "Holster Course" we do have a New Shooter Orientation course which is strongly recommended for club use. It is for all intent and purposes a "Holster Course". The outline of the course may be found on page 57 of the rule book.

screw all y'all.....

I am going to issue all the shooters that participate a "holster" certificate,

"Wes Belland has Participated in the IDPA New shooter orientation and has succesfully completed all tasks as outlined in IDPA course outline, Mr. Belland has now met all criteria for him to be Holster Qualified at North Peace Rod and Gun Club"

HOLSTER QUALIFIED :)

would that count as holster qualification ?? anyone ?

This is exactly why I am staying clear of the"sanctioned" BS. I run informal CDP matches every Thursday and it is open to IPSC, PPC, CDP and yes IDPA. It keeps BS like on the last the 11 pages out and our main focus is fun.

Jarlath, I have the feeling that the two points listed above are one and the same.

I really enjoy shooting CDP, mostly because of the efforts of Steve David at TMC. When I first started I could not figure out why everyone wasn't shooting CDP. Then I discovered the monolithic management structure of the organization and I truly believe this to be a bottleneck to further growth.

As was mentioned in earlier posts, IPSC and other disciplines have their quota of "personalities" but in a relatively new organization like CPD should be close enough to a clean slate to be able to mitigate the damage done by said "personalities". The Canadian shooting community, because of it's relatively small size needs to be cohesive, wedge issues like the ATT debacle need to not arise in the first place through application of forethought or be rapidly rectified when they do occur.

I guess you must be feeling as if the messenger has been pretty thoroughly shot for delivering the news, sorry mate. Mind you, it probably does not help your case that your name is on the CDP competitor certificate shown on the CDP website.

I agree about Steve David. What I like about him is he pays very strict attention to the safety aspects of CDP. Beyond that he wants it to be fun. Maybe Steve can put together a rule book of his own and call it Defensive Tactical Shooting or something. LOL Politics, stubborn minds, and egos tend to ruin many good things in life. I am not saying Dave Burke is like this as I have only met him once at TMC for a CDP shoot and he seemed to be of fine character.

You need to change your settings..

This is just the start of Page 3 for me.

The three page thing is a different thread for me Storm, but you knwo what I mean.............;)

CB, thanks for the compliment, I do my best to try and make it as fun as possible, as any of you know who shoot with me, that is all that matters and we as a pretty large group who shoot at TMC have a good time I think. Never anyone leaving upset, I hope not anyway.

ATT's and Certs

I checked this morning with the exec at Sharon, there's no requirement by that club for ATT's, or Certs to be checked by them, this is a match organizers requirement -if it is truly a requirement
