I've sort of found my answer but I'd like to get a definitive answer or at least some new opinions.

Is Wolf ammo good enough to plink with semi-cheaply and semi-accurately?

As for accuracy, you will have to try it to know for sure. How many grain is the bullet? I'd say as long as you know its non corrosive, and that its lighter than 180 grain, I'd try it if the price is right.

Wolf ammo

I have fired several 1000 rds of non corrosive wolf and found it to be just as accurate as the czech milsurp - However I have heard that bullet diameters can vary depending on the production run and how much vodka the machine operators drink on their lunch hours. My wolf came from the last container that was sitting in harbour for many months before being released. Supposedly the last ever cause of the U.S purchase of all wolf .762x39 production to equip the Iraq and Afghan police and army at pull out time.Wolf may only be producing .762x39 to meet the U.S. contract. If you find .308 I would like to know where ---

The Wolf ammo that I'm looking at is in the States. It's just so cheap I think I may have to try 500 rounds for $200. It will be a couple of weeks until I get my M14 though. It's 150 grain stuff.

You are of course going to get a US export permit and export it though a Licensed US exporter........

"Yup. It's all legal. I knew someone was going to ask."

Interested in bring back several thousand for your fellow gunnutters?

What is involved in bringing it across the border if I am a non-resident Canadian citizen? If anyone knows I can get the great deals down here (looks like Ammoman has some insanely low prices and Cabela's is offering 1000 rounds of Wolf for $410. I could easily bring it up to somewhere across the border if I had the legal authority.

OK, I have just partly answered my own question. Residents may bring back 5000 rounds for personal use. Non-residents may bring in 1500 rounds for a shooting competition. Both of these are "without" an import certificate.

Not particularly. I would rather just stick to myself and my friends. I'm not even sure if I'll go with the American route for my .308 needs. I was looking around today and some Canadian stuff looks decently priced enough to try. If I eventually go the American way I'll see if I can get a better deal if I bring a couple thousand more across.
